Spanning a 5,000-year period, this is the first book to document the beauty and fashion practices of various groups inhabiting Iran in a pictorial format for children ages eight and up. The book provides a comprehensive and easy-to-read look at fashion styles, textiles, jewelry and cosmetics used by Iranians throughout the centuries. Stunning objects from major museums will provide the first-ever pictorial documentation of the subject. Reconstructions of beautiful clothing worn by Iranians will complement the photographs of museum items. Various fashion styles portrayed on ancient Neolithic objects will be followed by reconstructions of clothing worn by the aristocracy, gods and goddesses of ancient Elam, the Medes, Persians, Parthians and Sasanians. The Islamic era will be covered with more reconstructions and pictures of brilliant miniatures, tiles and ceramics representing the ordinary and the elite of the various periods including the Safavids and the Qajars of the 16th and the 19th centuries.
